Web-Push Surveys: Origins, Use and Unsolved Challenges
Web-push surveys that use mail contact methods to request survey responses from the general public over the Internet have advanced in only a decade from untested ideas to the development of procedures that are now used world-wide. In this presentation, Don Dillman will place the development of these methods into historical context. He will then describe events and research studies that facilitated the creation and use of these methods in many different countries. With this as background he will discuss a number of unresolved challenges that now limit the effectiveness of web-push data collection, outlining research questions that need to be answered.
