Finite Population Sampling: A Bayesian View

Abstract: I will take the point of view that the main problem in finite population sampling is predicting the unobserved from the observed. A Bayesian approach will be introduced towards this end.

I will illustrate with the normal model as well as with its various generalizations. The role of auxiliary information will also be discussed. Finally, I will discuss at some length the suitability or unsuitability of the Horvitz-Thompson estimator also from a Bayesian angle.
