The JPSM Rick Valliant Student Award gives each new incoming PhD student a two-year student membership in AAPOR and ASA and two books; Survey Research in the United States: Roots and Emergence 1890-1960 by Jean M. Converse, and Practical Tools for Designing and Weighting Survey Samples, by Richard Valliant, Jill Dever, and Frauke Kreuter.
We are pleased to announce the 2019 recipient, JPSM PhD student Samantha Chiu. The book Total Survey Error in Practice was given in its place.)
The award is named in honor of Rick Valliant, Professor Emeritus, Universities of Maryland and Michigan. For those who would like to contribute to this award, gifts are accepted online through the JPSM Gift Fund. Please indicate the Rick Valliant Student Award fund on your form.
